The arrangement

Terms of Use

Twelve clauses over one arrangement between a small paper and somebody reading it. Nothing here is bought, sold, signed or paid for, and clause 5 says what happens where money exists somewhere in the picture.

1. Who publishes this

Doorstone LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company on the register of the Tennessee Secretary of State, formed June 14, 2022, of 1 Vantage Way, Nashville, TN 37228. Telephone +1 (629) 355-2417. Letters post@kestrelroads.com. Corrections copydesk@kestrelroads.com.

These terms apply from the moment a page here is read.

2. What this is

A paper. It publishes writing about ground in and around Nashville and about the terms on which a visitor may be on it.

3. What it is not

Not a travel agent, not a booking site, not a tour operator, not a guide service and not an agent for anybody whose ground it writes about. It arranges nothing, sells nothing and holds nothing on anybody's behalf.

This site sells nothing. No shop exists on it, no order can be placed through it, no basket, deposit, subscription or membership is offered anywhere on it. It follows that there is no delivery, no shipping, no return, no exchange and no refund, and no clause about any of them, because none of those things can happen here. Any page that appears to offer one is a fault and we would like to hear about it.

4. The pieces are reports, not permissions

This is the clause that matters most and it is worth reading slowly.

Every piece here describes what we found on a particular day at a particular hour. Nothing on this site grants anybody permission to be anywhere. Permission belongs to whoever owns the ground, it is theirs to give and to withdraw, and it can change between our visit and yours without anybody announcing it.

Accordingly:

  • Hours change, and the board at the gate is the authority rather than this paper.
  • An arrangement that opened by asking may stop existing.
  • A reader is responsible for their own conduct and their own safety on any ground they enter.
  • If somebody asks you to leave, leave. Nothing written here is an argument against them.

5. The fare search

There is a fare search on the front page of this site, operated by an outside booking service.

Doorstone LLC is not a party to any booking made through it, cannot see one, cannot change or cancel one, and holds no money at any point. The contract for any flight is between the reader, that service and whichever airline carries them, on their terms and not on ours.

If a booking follows a search that started here, that service may pay this paper a commission out of its own side. The fare quoted to the reader is the same either way. The disclaimer states this again formally and the fare search page states it beside the form.

6. Acceptable use

Read it, quote it with attribution, send it to somebody, print it. Do not scrape it wholesale, do not republish a piece entire, do not present it as somebody else's work, and do not use it to build a competing listing.

7. Copyright, both directions

The writing and the photographs belong to Doorstone LLC. A sentence or two quoted with the page named needs no permission. Reproducing a whole piece or using a photograph needs it in writing.

If anybody believes material here is theirs, write to copydesk@kestrelroads.com naming the page, the passage and the work said to be copied. The passage comes down first and is examined second, and the reply says what was examined. Post reaches the same desk at the address in clause 1.

8. Letters sent to us

Sending a letter through the form gives us permission to read it and reply to it, and nothing else. We do not publish letters, we do not quote them, and we do not pass them to anybody.

9. Accuracy

Every effort goes into keeping this accurate and the correction address exists because effort is not enough. Completeness and currency are not warranted. Wherever a fact is somebody else's to state, the page names them rather than adopting it.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, Doorstone LLC is not liable for anything that follows from a decision made on the strength of a page here, nor for the acts of anybody whose ground is described, nor for anything done by the service that operates the fare search.

Nothing in this clause touches liabilities the law will not let anybody contract away, which include fraud and any death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. No third party sites are linked

By design, this paper carries no links out to other companies' sites. The one exception is functional rather than editorial: the fare search submits to our own subdomain, which the outside booking service operates. Anything you reach from there is theirs.

12. Law, venue and amendment

The law of Tennessee governs and Davidson County is the venue. If one clause is unenforceable the rest still binds. An amendment binds from the moment it is published, and the review date printed under every page is when that last occurred.
