Standing and money
Disclaimer
Where the money comes from, what it does not buy, and the four things this paper cannot stand behind. Stated in the language of the small print rather than the language of the pieces.
Independence
Doorstone LLC owns no ground described on this site, manages none, is paid by nobody who does, and has no arrangement of any kind with any of them.
Not one piece here was suggested, sponsored, reviewed in advance or seen before publication by anybody who owns the ground it describes. Nothing on this site is an advertisement and no space on it is for sale.
The one commercial arrangement
There is a fare search on the front page, and it is the only commercial thing on this site.
- It is operated by an outside booking service, currently expected to be the affiliate network Travelpayouts, on a subdomain of this address.
- Booking and payment happen with that service and whichever airline carries the reader. This paper is not a party to it.
- If a booking follows a search that started here, the service may pay this paper a commission from its own margin.
- The reader pays the same fare either way. There is no version of that page that produces a different number depending on whether we are paid.
This is a material connection and it is disclosed for that reason, beside the form, on this page, on the paper and in clause 5 of the terms.
No third party code loads on any page of this site. The search is this paper's own markup, and the only thing that leaves is the reader, by their own click, once they press the button.
What the commission does not buy
- It does not decide what we write about. The eight pieces are about walking somewhere in Nashville and none of them is about flying anywhere.
- It does not put the search inside the reading. One form, on the front page, and not one of the eight pieces carries it.
- It does not name an airline. No airline appears in any heading, caption or sentence on this site.
- It does not produce a price in our writing. We publish no figures anywhere. The only numbers a reader ever sees come out of the search itself and belong to whoever produced them.
No reviews and no ratings
Because none are real. Nobody has sent us one and we have not invented any, so there is no block for them, no stars anywhere and no count of anything.
If that ever changes it will be because a reader wrote to us, and the page will say who and when.
No business is named
Every piece describes a kind of ground rather than a company: a quadrangle, an arboretum, a farm lane, a reading room.
That is partly editorial, because a named place changes hours and changes hands and a paper that named it would be wrong within a year. It is also a matter of fairness: we have no standing to publish anybody's access arrangements as though we spoke for them.
What this paper does not warrant
- That any ground is open. Hours change and permission can be withdrawn. The board at the gate is the authority and this paper is not.
- That any ground is safe. We describe surfaces, gradients and where the loose gravel is. Whether a place is safe for a particular person on a particular evening is not something anybody can say from a desk.
- That anything here is current. The date at the foot of every page is the last time it was reviewed, and reality moves faster than a two person paper.
- Anything at all about the fare search. Its results, rules, prices and bookings are somebody else's product and outside anything we can see or affect.
Images
Every photograph on this site was produced for it. None is stock, none was taken from anybody else, and each one carries alternative text describing what is actually in the frame. No photograph here contains a person, a vehicle registration or a name board.
Corrections
copydesk@kestrelroads.com. Send the page and the sentence. Either the page is amended and its review date moves with it, or an answer comes back explaining why it stays. Both usually inside a working day.
